Law of Similars

Homeopathy is based on the principle —"law of similars," which means “like healed by like.” Once Hahnemann—the propounder of Homeopathy—was observing the impacts of cinchona’s bark—a medicinal plant for healing malaria. He found the same impacts from consuming the cinchona’s bark that were alike to the symptoms of malaria. So, he inferred that healing proceeds through similarity, and the healing produces similar symptoms in healthy ones alike the diseased being treated. He did more experiments on this field and finally coined the phrase “law of similars.” i.e. “let similar be treated by similar.”

Based on his “law of similars” theory, he believed that by using medicines to produce symptoms, the artificial symptoms would rouse the vital/life force. This process gets the vital/life force to neutralize the symptoms and expel the original ailment. The artificially created symptoms/disturbances in the body would naturally dwindle when the dose is no more provided to the patient. He also concluded that if a substance in large doses has induced symptoms of a specific disease, it can also heal the same disease if it is given in extremely small doses.

Diseases in the Concept of Homeopathy

Hahnemann forwarded the concept of “miasms” around 1828, which he believed as the fundamental trigger for several ailments. A miasm is a peculiar unwanted disorder of the vital /life force. A disease/ailment is an active noxious agent which affects and hinders a dynamic vital energy of the body. Hahnemann stated that miasm is the root trigger of several ailments. In his view, initial problem of miasms originates general symptoms, such as skin or venereal ailments. He also warned that if these symptoms are suppressed by Allopathic treatment, the trigger penetrates deeper and appear as ailments in the internal organs.

It is here that Homeopathy fully opposes Allopathic treatment as ailments are treated with direct suppression of the symptoms. This in the view of Homeopathy is ineffective and fruitless. While doing this, the main miasm remains untreated. Thus it is only by solving the problem of hindrance of the vital/life force, such deep-rooted ailments can be healed.

Homeopathy—Harmless and Holistic Healing

Homeopathy does the healing of the patients in a harmless and holistic way. By the use of dynamic natural medicines, it normalizes the dynamic force in the body. In this way the homeopathic medicines not only impel bacteria and viruses to quit the body but also help restore the equilibrium of the vital/life force.

The immunity of the patient is brought to the normalcy and there is rarely any chance of getting affected by the same microbes in future. Thus, it heals the patients completely and hence regarded as the holistic and harmless healing.
